How to play
- Tap Start. Moles pop up in a three by three grid of holes.
- Tap a mole to bonk it. More than one can be up at once, so your eyes matter as much as your thumb.
- Bombs rise from the same holes. Hitting one costs you three bonks, though your score never drops below zero.
- The trick: roughly one in five things that pop up is a bomb, so a wild tapping spree loses more than it wins. Take the extra beat to see what you are hitting.
When to play this
Whack-a-Mole is the twenty-second one. A round is over before anyone gets bored, and the score is a single number, so passing the phone round a table works without explaining a rule.
