The eight hours
Hindustani music divides the day into eight prahars of about three hours, and a raga belongs to one of them. It is a tradition, not a measurement β sources place the boundaries slightly differently, and this app follows the common reading.
The tanpura
The drone underneath is a tanpura. It holds the raga's home note so everything you play has something to be in tune with.
